Process

No two creative processes are the same, and we all have crazy but brilliant ways of bringing ideas to life. My process begins with a spark; a passing thought while waiting in line, a solution to a frustration my users are facing, an absence in the market. Some of the best products start out as small ideas, atoms waiting to take off.

Ideating

The early stages start with brainstorming, ideating, and research research research! Diving into my audience, their desires and behaviors, and how the implementation of an idea could affect the space in which it lives. User testing, mind mapping, and collaborative sessions with my product teams are key in order for the work to begin to take shape.

Drafting

They say if you don't get the idea out of your head and into the physical world, someone else will. Call me old school, but my tried and true way to draft out an idea is through low-fi wires in my sketchbook, post-it notes graphed across a white board, and early drawings of screen states and user flows.

Developing

As a designer and visual learner, this is my favorite part of the process– the moment where creation leads the way. Bringing the design to life in high-fi prototypes, incorporating brand elements, color, personality, and all of the digital finishing touches to that website, app, or software.

What, you thought we were done? The best user-based work is never finished. It's always evolving, just like people. Feedback from users, time in the hands of others, and constant innovations like AI allow designers like me to revisit and improve upon user experiences and journeys.
